Christmas Tree Care Tips & Tricks

When a Christmas tree is cut, over half of its weight is water. With proper care, you can maintain the quality of your tree throughout the holiday season.
  1. First, make a fresh cut to remove about a 1/2-inch thick disk of wood from the base of the trunk before putting the tree in the stand. Make the cut perpendicular to the stem axis.
  2. Once home, place the tree in water as soon as possible. Most species can go 6 to 8 hours after cutting the trunk and still take up water.
  3. Use a stand that fits your tree. Avoid whittling the sides of the trunk down to fit a stand. The outer layers of wood are the most efficient in taking up water and should not be removed.
  4. Keep your Christmas tree away from sources of heat. Lowering the room temperature will slow the drying process, resulting in less water consumption each day.
  5. Check the stand daily to make sure that the level of water does not go below the base of the tree.

Since 1992 Arnie's has been working with the same tree farmers to offer Concord it's largest display of fresh cut Balsam and Fraser trees.

We offer Christmas trees from 4 feet to 10 feet with a fantastic selection of extra-large trees for our early shoppers. We’re open everyday from the Thanksgiving day until all the trees and wreaths are gone (usually a week or even two before Christmas).

Our hours are 10am to 8pm, and we have excellent parking lot lighting for nighttime shopping. We have a friendly staff that will help answer your questions, cut the trunk of your tree so it will fit in its base and even help load your tree into or on your vehicle. We're proud to know who plants, waters, fertilizes, cuts and delivers our trees. As soon as that first truck of trees arrives, we work hard to keep over 200 trees open at all times so everyone is guaranteed to find the tree that's just right for them!

When we first open we expect to have over 50 10 footers but they go quick. Come early. There is no difference between it laying in our lot or in your garage, as a Christmas tree is dormant until it has the fresh bottom cut and put in water.
